Imogene Elena Braith
Age: 24
Side: The cool side.
Occupation: Private Detective/ Consultant
Race: Human. But a mostly competent sorceress.
Nationality: Welsh. From Wales. Which is in Great Brittan. It’s okay.
Appearance:
Height: 5’6”
Skin: Pale, since she doesn’t tan. However she freckles and the bridge of her nose and her arms are spotted with little brown dots.
Hair: Nut brown, wildly curly and doesn’t do anything that she wants it to. It’s just a little longer then her shoulders and sticks out a good two inches from her head on a good day. She has given up on taming it and has resigned to wearing hair clips and hats.
Eyes: Big, wide, brown.
Face: Heart shaped, with a small nose and thin lips. She never wears much (if any) make up.
Body type: Thin, lanky, not many (any) curves.
Clothing: Imogene dresses in layers. She wears jeans even in the summer and hates showing her body. On casual days she wears jeans, boots, a camisole, a long sleeved t-shirt, a t-shirt, a zip up hoodie, a jacket and a hat. On warm days she wears jeans, sneakers, a camisole, a t-shirt and a hoodie.
When she’s actually meeting with clients she wears jeans, boots, a camisole, a t-shirt, and a blouse.
Some times, only some times, she wears a skirt, always with tights though and not shorter then her knee.
Imogene loves jewelry that's bright and colorful, as well as sun glasses and gloves and general accessories. She has a special place in her heart for things from Clair's.
She doesn’t often go shopping, but when she does she’s a compulsive buyer and hardly thinks about what she’s buying until she realizes that she has no money and has five or six bags of clothing. As a result she hardly ever wears the same outfit twice.
At a glance:
Eccentric would be a good word for it. She often personifies her thoughts and gives inanimate objects of concepts voice in order to explain things. (e.g. “So then the ship just said “Ha. Hell no.” and sailed off without him) She makes weird facial expressions when people are talking or when listening to other people talk. Whenever she’s working she will make comments to her paperwork and make faces at it. You would think this would make her easy to read- you would be right. She tends to wear her heart on her sleeve. She is all movement and noise and energy and weird little tics- like clicking pens. Imogene is generally happy and positive and uses all her might to see that glass as half full at all times.
She is an extrovert.
She generally likes people.
She enjoys annoying people.
Enjoys:
Google- You can find EVERYTHING on the internet.
Snow- Its fun! What is there to not like about snow?
Baking- Cookies, pies, cakes, tarts. Whatever. The smell and the heat of the stove and the finished result.
Jewelry- Big earrings, pearl necklaces, bangles and bracelets.
Colors- Bright, dull, pastels, bolds. She likes color.
Listening to people- It’s her job.
Piano- Both listening and playing.
Socks- No real reason.
Mice- she has two. Hazel and Basil.
Dislikes:
Dictionaries- She can never find the word she’s looking for.
Know-it-alls- They’re annoying.
Make-up- It’s uncomfortable.
The Cold- IT’S COLD. Enough said.
Bitter Foods- Gross.
Coffee- Caffeine highs are baaaad.
Strengths: Her powers of deduction. Following people without being noticed. Talking herself out of situations. Baking. She’s very good at Illusion spells as well.
Weaknesses: Physically she is very weak. She doesn’t exercise. She’s easy to read and she doesn’t like to admit any of her faults or other people's. She's easily distracted, she enjoys other people's aggravation, and she can't sit still.
Fears: Bees, needles, violent people, getting killed. Yeah. Getting killed defiantly tops the list.
Family Tree:
Areona Braith (49)- mother, alive
Cadell Braith (53)- father, alive
Gwyn Rodger (52) – aunt (on her mother’s side), alive
Jonathan T. Rodger (53)- uncle (married to her aunt), alive
History:
She spent her first five years of life in Wales with her parents and lived fairly normal life. She went to school and had friends, Ms. Molly (a doll her grandmother had made for her), and had two pet mice- Hazel and Basil. After five years of life with an eccentric little girl her parents- who were both paper pushers without an ounce of creativity in them sent her off to Shawl to live with her aunt. And so little Imogene was uprooted from the quiet Welsh suburbs and she, her two mice and Ms. Molly were shipped away to scary America and aunt who was generally accepted to be crazy.
But this is when her life really began.
Her aunt was and is an accomplished sorceress and when Imogene came to Shawl she ran a business giving lessons to children like some people got violin lessons or piano lessons. She gave sorcery lessons. So of course her first order of business with her niece was to give her sorcery lessons.
Little Imogene flourished in this environment, her aunt frequented art galleries and theater and cafes and took it upon herself to keep educate her niece in all of the finer things in life, as well as sorcery. Imogene got more culture in three months with her aunt then she had in her five years with her parents. But the one thing that she fell in love with in Shawl the most was her aunt’s boyfriend.
Jonathan T. Rodger: Private Eye.
She would spend many afternoons after school while her aunt was busy in Jonathan’s office, listening to him explain cases to her as he thought them out himself. He worked with people who would most likely have gone to jail if they went to the police. And she was absolutely enthralled by it as she grew up quickly caught on to the processes he used and started becoming his Penny to Jonathan’s Inspector Gadget. Except she only did this in her spare time and never actually did any work with him outside of the office.
In the field of her aunt’s sorcery lessons though she was not so successful; the most basic elemental spells eluded her and hindered her progress. Often times she would skip ahead to the more advanced spells and try them with the utmost failure. Though she did once succeed and accidentally gave her mice Hazel and Basil something like eternal life by combining two spells. She could never replicate this though and never told her aunt- since she wasn’t supposed to be trying advanced spells like that anyways.
When she was ten Jonathan married her aunt and became her uncle. She started working on illusion spells which would soon become her strong point. She did exceedingly well in school and skipped fourth grade because of it. Her life continued at a steady pace and she went through her horrible middle school and then even worse high school and graduated top of her class.
She enrolled in a local collage and dabbled in forensics and business and graduated again at the top of her class with just barely all the credits she needed. She had less then a year in the police academy before she dropped out.
This was when she started in the real world and started on her life long calling. She quickly got her license as a private detective and set up her own firm. Jonathan had retired at that point after a nasty bullet wound in his leg that left him disabled but he helped her get the right connections, introduced her to the right people.
And that is where she is now.
