The Character
Full Name: Katlin Alison McCully
Nicknames: Alison
Age: 34
Side: Police force
What are they? Um..creature. She's not really sure what she is, Her non-human dad having been absent all her life. She does have horns, extraordinarily long fingered hands with webs, very dry skin that needs moisture, and the ability to grow gills when submerged in water, as well as a faint greenish tinge to her skin. She would much, much rather be human.
Powers: The ability to grow gills when submerged in water, a strong swimmer
Occupation:Member of the police force
Appearance: About five feet six inches, she is not short. Her hair is long and strait, and the kind of blond that turns green after being in too much chlorine. Everything about her is greenish; her eyes, her skin is green tinged, even her lips have a greenish cast to them. Her teeth, fortunately, are not green. They are white, and normal looking, and maybe a bit sharper than normal, but you'd never know that unless she bit you. Her features are delicate and her mouth is slightly too wide for her face. She has a habit of twisting it up at the left corner when she is annoyed or anxious. She has short stubby horns that are usually invisible under her hair, and she takes pains to hide them. She feels the green skin is enough of a turn-off without adding horns to the picture. Her fingers are much longer than looks human, and webbed.her feet are pretty much normal, to her intense relief, of she would never find shoes that fit. Her skin is shinny when wet, when dry it is dull and itches frightfully.
She tends to wear pants and tight fitting shirts (nothing wrong with the shape of her body, at least), and has a passion for hats. She even looks good in them. She wears neutral colours, having learned long ago that most bright coloured things clash with her skin.
Personality:She is sarcastic and cynical, but gets along with people well. She enjoys playing mean pranks on her friends and is a good sport about having mean pranks played on her. She is rather lonely at the moment, but firmly believes in life without a man. Or so she tells herself.
Likes: She loves rain. And lakes. And rivers, and streams, and well, just about all water. She also has a passion for raw fish and seaweed, and is consequently an avid sushi eater. She is also guilty of enjoying scrabble and dominoes, and she loves classical music.
Dislikes: deserts, air conditioning, people with no sense of humor, the colour yellow, having pictures taken of her.
Strengths:Swimming, running, jujitsu. She is also good with languages. And she plays a mean game of scrabble.
Weaknesses:Fire, dry air, heights. She cannot stand heights. She is also rather self centered, and can be dangerously unobservant of the emotional state of others.
Fears: fire, Heights. She suffers from horrible nightmares.
History: Alison was raised by her mom, her dad long since having deserted them. When she was younger she dreamed of one day meeting him, but as her mom never spoke of him the mystery grew boring and she thought of him less. She went to public school until she was in fifth grade, and then her mother Somehow managed to enroll her in private school, how she never quite figured out, since that school was expensive and her mom had never made much money. She was less than happy when she learned that her mom had her entire future laid out for her, even the college she was going to go to, and her career: a doctor. As she went through high school, fights between them became more and more common. AS soon as she graduated, she packed up and left for the farthest college she could afford to go to, finally away from her mother and her mother's plans. She graduated college with a useless degree in English literature and a fondness for pottery, and moved to Shawl, where she lived for several years doing nothing of any consequence; waiting tables, pumping gas, and editing freelance. At age 29 she joined the police force, desperate for a permanent job and a way to enforce the law after her house had been robbed for the fourth time. Two years later her mother died, leaving her with am mysteriously large sum of money, some worthless items, and the haunting thought that they never reconciled. Her mother did not tell her who her father was before she died. She hasn't spoken to anyone in the family since, and isn't particularly bothered by this.
Roleplay Sample: Ok, i was feeling too lazy to actually come up with a sample for this character, i bring you the finest in another roleplay of completely unrelated plot. Woot.
Ryu felt his shoulders sag with relief at his band's reaction. None of them were going to object; they were upset, yes, but they would follow him. HE quickly straitened before anyone noticed the very unleaderlike gesture. HE paused, considering how best to address the questions they were asking. Should be honest with them? Or should he be bracing and optimistic? He decided on the latter course: his band needed encouragement after the blow he had dealt them with that speech. HE was pretty sure that Raser would see through it: of all his band he had known him the longest, but it was worth it to encourage them. HE had his duty as there leader.
"Do I have a plan?" he said. "I have many. But do you really think i would risk all our lives on a plan before we even have any information?" It was something they should have known about him, but he was willing to bet that they were all questioning his sanity right about now. come to think of it, he was questioning his sanity. "No, I have a few ideas that will get us out of there quick and easy, but will be sure to work." well, that was a lie. Not an outright one, his band would spot that on him like a hound to the scent, but it was not quite true. he had some vague ideas of how he was going to accomplish this, but not enough, and certainly not anything easy. that would come later, he hoped, when they had more information. "I haven't decided which one to use, that's for all of us to accomplish through the gathering of information. In this we are as much spies as workers." he hesitated over the word 'assassins'; his band would not like the implication. They were honest thieves, insofar as the saying went, and not murderers. "I wouldn't worry too much. Use your head, stay out of trouble, and follow my orders, unless they mean getting yourself killed. I have faith in you do what you need to." He hoped it sounded like he meant it. not that he didnt have faith in them, he just wasnt sure this would work.
Now came the part they would not like so much. he took a deep breath, steeling himself for the effect this would have on them. "You ask about payment. Our king Erlan was very generous." he could not keep the irony out of his voice, however hard he tried. "HE has agreed to grant us full amnesty for our crimes, as well as baronies and the titles that go with it. HE has also offered me the hand of one of his daughters." he saw no point in keeping that from them, the more he hid, the less they would trust him. He wished that he could be more impersonal about this, but he knew that Raser, if not Roan, would be reading him like a book. Damn his transparency! with strangers he was a stone wall, but get him with people he actually cared about...
May the force be with you.
