Mr Mayor, I Presume
by Alexa Tangier
In a surprise victory last night, Antoine Ginvillione won the Shawl mayoral elections with a landslide. In a turn of events that was almost as surprising as his election, Ginvillione has thrown a party for all of those not elected. He and his campaign manager, Maximilien Richard, stood outside local club The Sweet Lady and greeted guests as they arrived. This reporter was surprised to receive a wink from Ginvillone as she walked through the doors, and was shocked to see all of the mayorial candidates receiving one, although Miss Whyte was the only one to blush. Mr Richard, however, seemed very stiff; indeed, the contrast between the two of them was marked.
But the absolute bubbliness in that room, projected moreso by Ginvillione than the champagne, was quite catching. This reporter found herself dancing, which she has not done at a public function that she ought to have been observing from the sidelines, in many a year. In fact, this reporter soon found herself not only dancing, but dancing with Ginvillione, who proclaimed that he was "Open to-" when he was cut off by his campaign manager. This reporter seized the opportunity to speak with Mr Richard vis a vis their platform, and he confirmed that he would be working as deputy mayor during Ginvillione's term. Then, he promptly spun around, and took Ginvillione with him (although Ginvillione had the time to give this reporter a quick wave and a rather charming smile). An associate of the campaign who gave his name as Mr Bruno assured me that the mayor would be available for comment in his office next week.
